Description

It is easy to identify mature males from females. Mature male birds (Age?) have a pink ring of skin around the eye. Females have a slightly larger yellow cheek patch, and a grey eye ring. Immature birds (up to 4 years old) look similar to adult females. Keen observers will notice smaller cheek patches on immature males.

Both sexes have the striking yellow tail panels for which the species is named.
